Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Senior Industries Inspector post, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India or possess the nationality as per Rule 7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- Disability: Only candidates with a valid Low Vision (LV) disability certificate (40%-70% disability) are eligible.
- Educational Qualification:
- A Second Class Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Technology (excluding Civil Engineering) from a recognized university or institution; OR

- Experience:
- Approximately 2 years of experience in a post not below the rank of Junior Industries Inspector, Class-3, in the Commissionerate of Industries, Gujarat State; OR
- Approximately 2 years of practical experience in production or manufacturing of goods in Government, Local Body, Government undertaking, Board, Corporation, or a Limited Company, in a post equivalent to Junior Industries Inspector, Class-3.
- Computer Knowledge: Basic knowledge of computer applications as prescribed by the Gujarat Civil Services Rules, 1967.
- Language Proficiency: Adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi, or both.
Age Limit and Relaxation

Selection Process
The selection for the Senior Industries Inspector post will be based on a single-stage Computer Based Response Test (CBRT) or OMR-based Multiple Choice Question (MCQ) examination.
- Written Examination — A 3-hour exam with 210 questions for 210 marks, divided into two parts:
- Part A (90 Marks): Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30), Quantitative Aptitude (30), Constitution of India, Current Affairs, Gujarati & English Comprehension (30).
- Part B (120 Marks): Technical subject-related questions (Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Industries Policy).
Negative marking of 1/4th mark for each wrong answer applies. Candidates must score a minimum of 40% in both Part A and Part B separately to qualify.
- Provisional and Final Answer Key — Released after the exam, with an objection window.
- Document Verification — Shortlisted candidates (approximately twice the number of vacancies) will be called for verification of original documents.
- Final Selection List and Waiting List — Published based on merit after document verification.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The CBRT/OMR exam consists of 210 questions for 210 marks, to be completed in 3 hours.
- Part A - Reasoning & Data Interpretation (30 Marks): Covers Coding-Decoding, Blood Relations, Age and Height problems, Direction Sense, Clock and Calendar, Venn Diagrams, Ranking, Series, Analogy, Data Interpretation, Symmetry, Probability, and related analytical topics.
- Part A - Quantitative Aptitude (30 Marks): Includes Number System, LCM-HCF, Percentage, Profit-Loss, Simple/Compound Interest, Ratio-Proportion, Time-Work-Distance, Averages, Algebra, Mensuration, Coordinate Geometry, and Trigonometry.
- Part A - Constitution of India (10 Marks), Current Affairs (10 Marks) and Comprehension (10 Marks - Gujarati 5 + English 5): Focuses on the Preamble, Fundamental Rights and Duties, Directive Principles, Union and State legislature/executive/judiciary, local self-government, elections, current events, and reading comprehension.
- Part B - Technical (120 Marks): Comprises Basic Mechanical Engineering (20 marks), Basic Electrical Engineering (20 marks), Basic Electronics Engineering (20 marks), Basic Computer Engineering (20 marks), and Industries Policy (40 marks), including Atmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme 2022, Gujarat Textile Policy 2024, MSMED Act 2006, Purchase Policy 2024, Startup Policy of Gujarat, and Ease of Doing Business (EODB).
Pay Scale and Benefits
Initially, selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly pay of ₹49,600 for the first five years. Upon satisfactory completion of this period, they will be eligible for regular appointment in the 7th Pay Commission pay scale of ₹39,900 – ₹1,26,600 (Level-7). This is subject to the outcome of specific pending Supreme Court matters.
