Eligibility Criteria for IOB Local Bank Officer 2026-27

Nationality/Citizenship
A candidate must be:
- A citizen of India, or
- A subject of Nepal or Bhutan, or
- A Tibetan refugee who arrived in India before 1 January 1962 with the intent of permanent settlement, or
- A person of Indian origin who has migrated from specific East African countries or other nations with the intent of permanent settlement in India, subject to a valid eligibility certificate from the Government of India.
Educational Qualification

IOB Local Bank Officer Salary 2026-27
Selected candidates will be appointed as Local Bank Officers in the JMGS-I scale.

In addition to the basic pay, officers will receive Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), City Compensatory Allowance (CCA), and other benefits as per the Bank's rules. Candidates with prior officer experience in Scheduled Commercial Banks may be eligible for up to two advance increments, subject to their job profile matching a Scale-I Generalist Officer.
Selection Process for IOB LBO 2026-27
The selection process for Local Bank Officers involves three main stages: an Online Examination, a Language Proficiency Test (if applicable), and a Personal Interview.
Online Examination Structure
The online examination is a crucial part of the selection process.

- There is a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer.
- No penalty for unattempted questions.
- Minimum qualifying aggregate marks are 30% for reserved categories and 35% for unreserved categories.
Language Proficiency Test (LPT)
Candidates who are shortlisted for the Personal Interview but have not studied the local language of the state they applied for in Std. X or Std. XII must pass a Language Proficiency Test. Failure to qualify the LPT will lead to disqualification.
Personal Interview
The Personal Interview carries a total of 100 marks. Candidates must secure a minimum of 45% (for reserved categories) or 50% (for unreserved categories) to qualify.
Final Selection
The final merit list is prepared based on the combined scores of the Online Examination and Personal Interview, with a weightage ratio of 80:20 respectively. A minimum aggregate score of 30% for reserved categories and 35% for unreserved categories is required for final selection.
Probation and Bond
Selected candidates will undergo a probation period of two years of active service from their joining date. They are also required to execute a Financial Service Indemnity Bond of ₹2,00,000, committing to a minimum of three years of service with the Bank.
