Candidates belonging to the OBC category who fall under the 'creamy layer' are not eligible for OBC reservation benefits and should apply under the 'UR (Unreserved)' category if they meet the applicable age criteria. PwBD candidates have horizontal reservations.
Eligibility Criteria
To be considered for the Apprenticeship program at New India Assurance, candidates must meet specific eligibility requirements as of the cut-off date, 01 June 2026.
- Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of India.
- Previous Apprenticeship: Candidates should not have previously undergone or currently be pursuing any Apprenticeship Training under the Apprentices Act, either with NIACL or any other organization.
- Experience: This program is designed for freshers; therefore, candidates with one or more years of job experience after completing their educational qualifications are not eligible.
- Educational Qualification: A graduate degree in any discipline from a university recognized by the Central Government or an equivalent qualification is mandatory.
- Graduation Completion Date: Candidates must have completed their graduation and possess a passing certificate dated between 01 January 2022 and 01 June 2026 (inclusive of both dates). Those who passed graduation before 01 January 2022 or after 01 June 2026 will not be considered.
- Local Language Proficiency: Applicants must be proficient (able to read, write, speak, and understand) in at least one of the specified local languages of the State for which they are applying. Candidates with 10th or 12th standard mark sheets showing local language study are exempt from a separate language test.

The maximum age limit specified applies to General category and EWS candidates. Age relaxation for other categories like SC/ST/OBC/PwBD will be provided as per Government of India guidelines. OBC candidates falling under the 'creamy layer' will be treated as General Category candidates and will not be eligible for OBC age relaxation benefits. Age relaxation for SC/ST/OBC candidates is cumulative with only one of the remaining categories for which age relaxation is permitted.
Application Fee and Payment Method
Candidates are required to pay an application/examination fee to the designated scrutinizing/examining body. The fee structure, including 18% GST, is as follows:

The application fee must be remitted through online mode only. No other payment method will be accepted. The application process is considered complete only after the successful payment of the fee on or before the last date.
Selection Process
The selection of candidates for the Apprenticeship program will involve a multi-stage process designed to assess their aptitude and suitability.
- Online Written Test: All eligible applicants who have paid the examination fee will undergo an objective-type online written test. This test evaluates candidates on various subjects as detailed in the exam pattern section.
- Shortlisting for Document Verification and Regional Language Test: Candidates who successfully clear the online written examination will be shortlisted in descending order of marks. The number of candidates shortlisted for Document Verification and the Regional Language Test will be three times the relevant training seats available in each state and category.
- Regional Language Test: For candidates who cannot provide proof of studying the specified local language in their 10th or 12th standard, a Regional Language Test will be conducted during the document verification stage. Failure to qualify this test will lead to disqualification.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification, where they must present all original documents along with self-attested copies to confirm their eligibility.
- Medical Fitness Test: Candidates found suitable after document verification will need to undergo a medical examination to ensure they meet the minimum physical fitness standards prescribed by the company.
The final selection will be contingent upon successful verification of eligibility, information provided in the online application, and qualification in the regional language test (if applicable).
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The online written test for the Apprenticeship program will be objective-type and will consist of 100 questions, carrying a total of 100 marks. The duration of the examination will be 60 minutes. The test will be available in both English and Hindi for most sections, except for General English.

In case multiple candidates score the same marks in the merit list, their ranking will be determined by their age in descending order (older candidates ranked higher). The syllabus will cover general aptitude and knowledge relevant to the insurance sector.
Pay Scale and Benefits
Apprentices engaged by The New India Assurance Company Limited will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 12,300/-. This amount is the sole remuneration, and no other monetary or non-monetary benefits will be provided.
- Stipend Payment: The stipend for each month will be paid by the tenth day of the following month.
- Leave Policy: Apprentices are entitled to one day of leave per month, which will be credited at the beginning of the subsequent month. Leave can only be availed with prior permission from the company. Unavailed leave will be carried forward, but not more than two days of leave can be granted at a time. All accumulated leave will automatically lapse upon termination or completion of the contract.
- Holidays: Apprentices will be entitled to the same holidays observed by the company.
- Deductions: No deductions will be made from the stipend for approved leave. However, for any other absence, a pro-rata deduction will apply. Apprentices are not entitled to any statutory benefits like Provident Fund, Staff Mediclaim, or other employee benefits, nor will the company make any statutory contributions on their behalf.
- Contract of Apprenticeship: A digital apprenticeship contract will be issued through government apprenticeship portals (e.g., https://nats.education.gov.in/). Candidates must accept this contract within the stipulated time. Engagement as an Apprentice is conditional upon entering and having the contract approved by the relevant authorities.
- Training Period: The period of engagement for the apprenticeship will be twelve months.
It is explicitly stated that this apprenticeship does not constitute employment with the company, and apprentices will not be treated as "employees" or be entitled to employee benefits. There is no obligation on the company's part to offer employment after the completion of the training period.
