Eligibility Criteria for Para Legal Volunteers

• Citizenship: Applicants must be citizens of India.
• Educational Qualification: A minimum of matriculation (10th Pass) is required, along with a capacity for overall comprehension.
• Mindset: Candidates should possess a mindset to assist the needy in society, coupled with compassion, empathy, and a genuine concern for the upliftment of marginalized and weaker sections.
• Preferred Backgrounds: Applications are invited from individuals belonging to various groups, including:
  • Teachers (including retired teachers)
  • Retired Government Servants and Senior Citizens
  • Students and Teachers of Master of Social Work (MSW)
  • Anganwadi Workers
  • Doctors/Physicians
  • Students & Law Students (until they enroll as lawyers)
  • Members of Non-political, service-oriented NGOs and Clubs
  • Members of Women Neighbourhood Groups, Maithri Sangrams, and other Self Help Groups (including Marginalised/Vulnerable Groups)
  • Any Social Worker
  • Persons from a defence background or their family members
  • Any other person whom the District Legal Services Authority deems fit to be identified as PLVs
• Additional Preferences: Preference will be given to candidates who:
  • Do not primarily rely on the income derived from their services as PLVs.
  • Have proficiency in driving (four-wheelers).
  • Possess proficiency in computers (MS Office).

Age Requirements

Honorarium and Remuneration

The work of PLVs does not entail a fixed salary, remuneration, or wage. However, an honorarium will be provided from time to time, as per the prevailing rules set by the authority.

Application Process

1. Application Form: Obtain the standard application form.
2. Photographs: Attach two passport-size photographs to the application form.
3. Mobile Number: Ensure your mobile number is clearly mentioned in the application form for future communication.
4. Self-Attested Documents: Submit the application along with self-attested copies of all necessary documents supporting your eligibility.
5. Envelope: Place the completed application form and documents in a sealed envelope.
6. Addressing the Envelope: The envelope must be addressed to:

   "THE DISTRICT & SESSIONS JUDGE-CUM-CHAIRMAN, DISTRICT LEGAL SERVICES AUTHORITY, NAGAON, ASSAM, PIN-782001"

7. Submission: Deposit the sealed envelope in the "DROP BOX" provided for this purpose at the premises of the District & Sessions Judges' Court, 4th Floor, Judicial Court Building at Nagaon.
8. Deadline: Applications must reach the office on or before 05:00 P.M. on 25th August 2026.

Selection Procedure

1. Shortlisting: Applications will be scrutinized, and eligible candidates will be shortlisted for the next stage.
2. Viva-voce/Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a viva-voce or interview. The list of shortlisted candidates will be notified on the official notice board and uploaded on the official website of Nagaon Judiciary. No separate call letters will be issued.
3. Final Decision: The decision of the Selection Committee regarding shortlisting and final selection of PLVs will be conclusive and binding.
4. Re-application for Existing PLVs: Existing PLVs currently serving with the District Legal Services Authority, Nagaon, must apply afresh if they wish to continue. Failure to do so will be considered a lack of interest in the scheme. Re-application does not guarantee selection.
5. Disqualification: Canvassing, directly or indirectly, will lead to immediate disqualification of the candidate.

Important Instructions

• Incomplete applications will be rejected without any further communication.
• Applications received after the specified last date will not be entertained under any circumstances.
• No Travelling Allowance (TA) or Daily Allowance (DA) will be provided for appearing in the interview.
