Eligibility Criteria for CSL Apprentice Posts
Candidates applying for the CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 must meet specific educational and domicile requirements. Only candidates who are domicile of Kerala and have passed their qualifying examination in 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible.
For Graduate Apprentices (Category I)
- Applicants must hold a Degree in Engineering or Technology in the relevant discipline, awarded by a Statutory University or an institution empowered by an Act of Parliament to grant such a degree.
- Alternatively, a graduate examination from a professional body recognized by the State or Central Government as equivalent to an engineering degree is also acceptable.
For Technician (Diploma) Apprentices (Category II)
- For engineering disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics, Instrumentation Technology, Civil, Computer Engineering): A Diploma in Engineering or Technology from a State Council/Board of Technical Education, a University, or a government-recognized institution in the relevant discipline.
- For Commercial Practice: A Diploma in Commercial Practice from an institution recognized by the State or Central Government.
Candidates with CGPA/OGPA/CPI must provide their University/Institute/Board's conversion criteria. Those with equivalent qualifications must submit an Equivalency Certificate. Candidates who have previously undergone or are currently undergoing apprenticeship training under the Apprentices (Amendment) Act 1973 are not eligible.
Age Requirements
Applicants must be above 18 years of age as on 01 September 2026. Age relaxation for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), Other Backward Classes (OBC), and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) will be provided as per the directives of the Government of India. Physical standards for apprentices will adhere to Clause 4 of the Apprenticeship Rules 1992 and its subsequent amendments.
Stipend Structure
Apprentices selected for training at Cochin Shipyard Limited will receive a monthly stipend as follows:

Selection Procedure
The selection process for CSL Apprentice Recruitment 2026 is merit-based and involves multiple stages:
- Domicile Check: Only candidates who are domicile of Kerala will be considered for this notification.
- Shortlisting by Marks: Candidates will be shortlisted purely based on the percentage of marks obtained in their basic prescribed qualifying examination for the respective discipline.
- Tie-Breaking Rules: If multiple candidates have the same percentage of marks, their relative merit will be determined first by seniority in the year of passing. If the passing year is also identical, the candidate who is senior in age (based on date of birth) will be given precedence.

They must present all original documents related to age, qualification, marks, caste, and disability (if applicable), along with self-attested copies. Failure to produce original documents will lead to outright rejection of the candidature.
- Provisional Selection: Candidates who successfully complete the certificate verification will be provisionally selected against the notified training seats in order of merit and reservation, subject to clearing medical fitness standards.

For Candidates Already Registered on the Old Apprentice Portal (portal.mhrdnats.gov.in)
- Activate your account on the new NATS portal (nats.education.gov.in) using the "Forgot Password" option on the student login page.
- Log in to your activated account and ensure all your details in the application form are complete and accurate.
