Eligibility Criteria for BMC Trade Apprentice 2026
To be eligible for the BMC Trade Apprentice posts, candidates must meet specific educational and other requirements:

Selection Process for BMC Trade Apprentice
The selection for BMC Trade Apprentice posts involves no written examination and is based on merit and reservation policies.
- Merit List based on ITI Marks — Candidates will be shortlisted based on their final semester marks in the relevant ITI trade examination, as declared in their application at the mela.
- Reservation Application — Applicable social reservations (SC/ST/VJ/NT-B/NT-C/NT-D/SEBC/EWS) and parallel reservations (Women 30%, Ex-servicemen 15%, Project-affected 5%, Sportspersons 5%, Earthquake-affected 2%, Orphans 1%, PwD 4%) will be applied as per government rules.
- Tie-breaking Rule — In case of a tie in marks between candidates, preference will be given to the candidate with an earlier date of birth (i.e., the older candidate).
- Combined Merit List — A combined merit list will be prepared, and high-scoring backward-class candidates may also be considered against open-category posts.
- Document Verification & Offer — Selected candidates' names will be published on the BMC recruitment portal, followed by document verification and an online offer. The offer must be accepted within 7 days, failing which the selection will be cancelled.

Candidates interested in the BMC Trade Apprentice positions must follow a two-step application process:
- Online Registration — First, visit the official Apprenticeship India portal at www.apprenticeshipindia.gov.in and complete your registration. Ensure you select MCGM (BMC) as the establishment. Only ITI-passed candidates from Maharashtra are eligible to register.

Important Conditions for BMC Apprenticeship
Applicants should be aware of the following conditions:
- The training period for all trade apprentices is one year. Apprentices must be physically present for training and may be assigned to any of the three shifts as per BMC's operational requirements.
- Completion of the apprenticeship training does not guarantee permanent appointment in BMC service, as per Section 22 of the Apprentices Act, 1961.
