Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must ensure they meet all prescribed educational and technical qualifications by the closing date of application, 29 July 2026. Those awaiting final results for their qualifying examinations are not eligible to apply. Diploma or Degree in Engineering will not be accepted as a substitute for Course Completed Act Apprenticeship (CCAA) or ITI for Pay Level-2 Technician posts unless explicitly stated otherwise. Age Limit and Relaxation

The age limits for candidates are calculated as of 01 July 2026. For Technician Grade-I Signal posts, the age should be between 18 and 33 years. For Technician Grade-III posts, the age should be between 18 and 30 years. Various categories are eligible for age relaxation as per government rules, which are detailed in the official notification. Application Fee and Payment Method

Candidates are required to pay an examination fee, which varies by category. The fee must be paid online through internet banking, debit/credit cards, or UPI. It is important to note that a separate application and fee payment are required for each Pay Level a candidate applies for. The application fee structure is as follows:

The refund of the examination fee will be credited only to the Aadhaar-seeded bank account of candidates who appear for the CBT. Candidates are responsible for ensuring their Aadhaar-seeded bank account is valid and operational.

Selection Process

The recruitment process for Technician posts involves multiple stages to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of candidates. These stages include a Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by Document Verification (DV), and finally a Medical Examination (ME).

1. Computer Based Test (CBT) – This is the initial stage where candidates will take an online examination. Separate CBTs will be conducted for each Pay Level.
2. Document Verification (DV) – Candidates shortlisted based on their CBT performance will be called for document verification. They must present all original certificates and two sets of self-attested photocopies.
3. Medical Examination (ME) – After successful document verification, candidates will undergo medical fitness tests conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure they meet the prescribed medical standards for the opted posts.

The dates for the CBT, DV, and ME will be announced periodically on the official websites of the concerned RRBs.

Exam Pattern and Syllabus

The Computer Based Test (CBT) will be objective-type with multiple-choice questions. There will be negative marking, with 1/3rd of a mark deducted for each incorrect answer. Normalization of marks will be applied for CBTs held in multiple shifts. Minimum qualifying percentages are set for different communities.

Pay Scale and Benefits

Selected candidates for Technician Grade-I Signal will be placed in Pay Level-5 of the 7th CPC, with an initial pay of Rs. 29,200. Technician Grade-III appointees will be in Pay Level-2, with an initial pay of Rs. 19,900. In addition to the basic pay, selected candidates will be eligible for various allowances as per government rules. During any prescribed training period, only a stipend will be provided. Candidates may also be required to execute a Security and/or Indemnity Bond.

How to Apply — Step by Step

Candidates must apply online through the official RRB websites. The application process involves creating an account, filling out the application form, and paying the examination fee. 1. Create an Account: First, candidates must create an account on the RRB application portal using the link provided on the official RRB websites. Existing users from previous RRB CENs can use their existing login credentials. A valid mobile number and active email ID are essential for OTP verification during account creation. Details entered during account creation cannot be modified later. 2. Identity Authentication: Applicants are strongly encouraged to authenticate their identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during the "Create an Account" process for a smoother verification process. 3. Fill Online Application: After creating an account, log in and fill out the online application form carefully. Candidates must choose only one RRB for each Pay Level and select their preferences for Zonal Railways/PUs and posts under that RRB. 4. Live Photo Capturing: Instead of uploading a pre-existing photograph, candidates will capture a live photo using a webcam or mobile front camera during the application process. Fee Payment: After submitting the application, proceed to pay the examination fee online. 7. Modification Window: A modification window will be available from 01 August 2026 to 10 August 2026 for corrections in the application form (excluding details filled in 'Create an Account' and chosen RRB), upon payment of a non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250/-.

Documents Required

Candidates must keep the following documents ready for uploading during the online application and for verification stages:

• Live Photograph: Captured during the application process as per specifications.
• Scanned Signature: In JPG/JPEG format, written in running handwriting with black ink on white paper.
• SC/ST Certificate: (If applicable, for free travel pass request) In PDF format, latest and valid as on closing date.
• Educational/Technical Qualification Certificates: Original certificates (Matriculation/SSLC, ITI, Diploma, Degree, etc.) with date of issue. If the date of issue is after the closing date, consolidated mark sheets with declaration dates are required.
• Age Proof: Matriculation / SSLC or equivalent certificate showing Date of Birth.
• Caste Certificate: For SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/EBC candidates, in the prescribed format, issued by a competent authority, valid as on the closing date of application.
• PwBD Certificate: For Persons with Benchmark Disabilities, in the prescribed format (Form V or VI), along with Unique Disability Identity (UDID).
• Ex-Servicemen Certificate: Employment certificate with probable date of discharge (Annexure VI (A)) and self-declaration (Annexure VI).
• NOC from Present Employer: If applicable, to be produced at the time of Document Verification.
• Identity Proof: Valid ORIGINAL Photo ID (Voter ID-Card, Aadhaar card, printout of e-Aadhaar, driving license, PAN card, passport, identity card issued by employer for govt. employees, School/College/University photo ID card for students) for CBT and DV.
