KSET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

• Educational Qualification: Candidates must hold a Post Graduate degree or its equivalent from a UGC-recognized university or institution.
• Minimum Marks:
  • General category candidates must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in their Post Graduate degree (without rounding off).
  • Candidates belonging to SC-A, SC-B, SC-C, ST, CAT-I, IIA, IIB, IIIA, IIIB, Persons with Disabilities (PwD), and Transgender categories must have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in their Post Graduate degree (without rounding off).
• Current PG Students: Candidates currently pursuing their final year or semester of a Post Graduate degree are provisionally eligible to apply. However, they must submit their PG marksheet with the required percentage within two years from the date of KSET result publication to receive their eligibility certificate.
• Subject Requirement: Candidates must appear for the KSET examination in the same subject as their Post Graduate degree.
• Previous KSET Qualifiers: Candidates who have previously qualified KSET in a particular subject are not eligible to apply for the KSET 2026 in the same subject. If found, their previous qualification will be revoked.
• Foreign Degrees: Candidates holding foreign degrees or diplomas must get their qualifications verified for equivalence by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) at www.aiu.ac.in.

KSET 2026 Examination Pattern

• Paper I: This paper is common for all candidates and assesses teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, and general awareness. It contains 50 compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 100 marks.
• Paper II: This paper is subject-specific, based on the candidate's chosen Post Graduate subject. It contains 100 compulsory questions, each carrying 2 marks, for a total of 200 marks.
• Total Marks: 300 marks.
• Duration: 3 hours (10:00 AM to 1:00 PM).
• Mode: Offline, OMR-based.
• Negative Marking: There is no negative marking for incorrect answers.
• Language: Most subjects will have question papers in both Kannada and English. Some subjects will be available only in English, Hindi, Urdu, or Sanskrit as specified.

Selection Process for KSET Qualification

1. Minimum Marks Requirement: Candidates must appear in both Paper I and Paper II and secure a minimum aggregate of 40% for General category or 35% for Reserved categories.

General Instructions for Candidates

• Candidates must download their admit cards from the KEA website and verify all details.
• No electronic gadgets, mobile phones, calculators, or study materials are allowed inside the examination hall.
• Candidates are permitted to wear half-sleeve clothing. Face and head coverings are generally prohibited unless for religious reasons, subject to verification.
• Metal ornaments, except for traditional items like Mangalsutra and toe rings, are not allowed.
• PwD candidates will be granted an additional 60 minutes for each paper.
• The KEA's decision regarding the examination process and results will be final.
• Any disputes related to the examination will be subject to the jurisdiction of the High Court of Karnataka.
