  • Educational Qualification: A Master's degree with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade) in the concerned, relevant, or allied subject from a recognized Indian University or an accredited foreign university.
  • National Eligibility Test (NET): Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC (like SLET/SET).
  • Ph.D. Exemption: Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, and their subsequent amendments, are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.
  • Ph.D. Conditions for Exemption (for candidates registered before July 11, 2009):
    • The Ph.D. degree must have been awarded in a regular mode.
    • The Ph.D. thesis must have been evaluated by at least two external examiners.
    • An open Ph.D. viva voce of the candidate must have been conducted.
    • The candidate must have published two research papers from their Ph.D. work, with at least one in a refereed journal.
    • The candidate must have presented at least two papers based on their Ph.D. work in conferences/seminars sponsored/funded/supported by the UGC/ICSSR/CSIR or similar agencies.
  • Foreign Ph.D. Qualification: A Ph.D. degree obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among the top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by QS, THE, or ARWU is also acceptable.
