About the Recruitment
The Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC) has released the official notification for the UPSSSC FSL Recruitment 2026, announcing 208 vacancies for Scientific Assistant and Lab Assistant (Prayogshala Sahayak) posts. These positions are under the Office of Forensic Science Laboratory, Uttar Pradesh, Lucknow, and include both general and special selection categories. Interested candidates who have qualified the Preliminary Eligibility Test 2025 (PET-2025) with a valid score can apply online through the UPSSSC official website from 27 July 2026 to 17 August 2026.

Horizontal reservation is also applicable for various categories as per Uttar Pradesh government rules.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must meet the essential educational qualifications as per the Uttar Pradesh Vidhi Vigyan Prayogshala Araajpatrit (Pravidhik) Seva Niyamavali, 2016, and must have appeared in PET-2025 with a valid, non-zero, and non-negative score.
Scientific Assistant Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a qualification in one of the following four domains:
- Biology Domain: B.Sc. in Biological Science / Forensic Science with specialization in Biological Science, Biotechnology, Bio Chemistry, Genetics, Cell Biology, or Microbiology from a recognized university/institute.
- Physical Science Domain: B.Sc. in Physical Science / Forensic Science with specialization in Physical Science, Nuclear Science, Instrumentation, or Electronics; OR B.Tech in Instrumentation/Electrical & Electronics Engineering/Civil and Mechanical Engineering.
- Chemistry Domain: B.Sc. in Chemistry / Forensic Science with specialization in Chemistry or Bio Chemistry from a recognized university/institute.
- Computer Science Domain: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or an 'A' level diploma from NIELIT.
Preferential Qualification: Candidates with an M.Sc. in the relevant subject (for Biology/Physical Science/Chemistry domains), a higher qualification in Computer Science, a minimum of two years' service in the Territorial Army, or a National Cadet Corps 'B' Certificate will be given preference in case of a tie.
Lab Assistant Educational Qualification
Candidates must hold a qualification in one of the following four domains:
- Biology Domain: B.Sc. in Biology Group/Biotechnology/Bio Chemistry/Genetics/Cell Biology/Microbiology from a recognized university/institute.
- Physical Science Domain: B.Sc. in Physical Science Group/Nuclear Science/Instrumentation/Electronics; OR B.Tech in Instrumentation/Electrical & Electronics.
- Chemistry Domain: B.Sc. in Chemistry Group/Bio Chemistry from a recognized university/institute.
- Computer Science Domain: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or an 'A' level diploma from NIELIT.
Preferential Qualification: Candidates with a minimum of two years' service in the Territorial Army, or a National Cadet Corps 'B' Certificate, will be given preference.
Age Limit and Relaxation
For both Scientific Assistant and Lab Assistant posts, candidates must meet the specified age criteria.

Dependants of Freedom Fighters, Ex-Servicemen, women, Divyangjan (Persons with Disabilities), and Outstanding Sportsperson category candidates will pay fees as per their original base category. A separate fee for the Main Examination will be charged only from shortlisted candidates before downloading their admit cards.
Selection Process
The selection for UPSSSC FSL Scientific Assistant and Lab Assistant posts is based on a Main (written) Examination.
- Shortlisting for Main Examination — Candidates will be shortlisted for the Main Examination based on their normalized PET-2025 score. The number of candidates shortlisted will be 15 times the number of advertised vacancies, category-wise. All candidates scoring at or above the applicable cut-off will be included. Candidates with a zero or negative actual/normalized PET-2025 score will not be shortlisted.
- Written (Main) Examination — The shortlisted candidates will appear for a written examination.
Exam Pattern and Syllabus
The written examination will consist of a single question paper with 100 objective-type, multiple-choice questions, carrying a total of 100 marks. The exam duration will be 2 hours (120 minutes). Each question carries 1 mark, and there will be a negative marking of 25% (1/4 mark) for each wrong answer.

Syllabus Highlights (Part-1 Subjects)
- Physics: Covers Mechanics, heat and thermodynamics, waves and sound, optics, electricity and magnetism, electronics, modern physics, radiation and nuclear physics, applied physics in forensics, experimental physics and instrumentation.
- Chemistry: Includes Physical, organic, inorganic and analytical chemistry, forensic and applied chemistry, biochemistry, environmental chemistry, and instrumentation.
- Biology: Encompasses Cell biology, genetics, molecular biology and biotechnology, human anatomy and physiology, blood and serology, microbiology, immunology, biochemistry, forensic biology, ecology and environment.
- Mathematics: Topics include Arithmetic, algebra, geometry and mensuration, trigonometry, statistics, analytical and logical reasoning, and advanced topics like permutation-combination and basic calculus.
- Forensic Science: Focuses on General forensic science, crime scene investigation, physical and biological evidence, forensic biology and toxicology, forensic chemistry, questioned documents, ballistics and physics, cyber and digital forensics.
Part-2 covers computer and information technology fundamentals, internet/WWW, hardware-software, email, MS-Word and MS-Excel essentials, digital financial tools, cyber security, and emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, and the Internet of Things. Part-3 covers Uttar Pradesh's history, culture, art, festivals, geography, natural resources, economy, agriculture, industry, polity, and current affairs related to the state.
Pay Scale and Benefits
The selected candidates for Scientific Assistant and Lab Assistant posts will receive salary as per the 7th Pay Commission.

Eligible candidates must apply online through the official UPSSSC website. Follow these steps to complete your application:
- Visit the official UPSSSC website: upsssc.gov.in.
- Navigate to the Live Advertisement Segment on the homepage and click on the relevant advertisement (Advt. No. 15-Pariksha/2026).
- Log in using your PET-2025 Registration Number and verify your identity via the OTP sent to your registered mobile number/email.
- Review your auto-displayed personal details (name, parentage, category, EWS/horizontal reservation status, date of birth, gender, marital status, contact details) carried forward from PET-2025.
- Select (tick) the specific post(s) you wish to apply for from the displayed list. Unselected posts will not be considered.
- Confirm your educational qualification for the selected post(s) by choosing Yes/No, and enter details such as board/university, year of passing, certificate/roll number, and marks.
- Enter the verification code shown on the registration page and click Submit to generate your application form. Download and save a copy.
- Review your PET-2025 photograph and signature, which will be auto-displayed, then click Continue.
- Indicate your post preference (if multiple posts were selected) and Yes/No for preferential qualification, then confirm your correspondence address.
- Read the declaration carefully, tick all checkboxes to agree, enter the verification code, and click Save and Submit.
- Pay the required fee online via Credit Card/Debit Card/Internet Banking/UPI or SBI e-Challan. Upon successful payment, the application will be auto-submitted.
- Download and print the final submitted application form for your records.
