About the JKPSC Assistant Professor Recruitment 2026
The Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has issued a notification for the recruitment of Assistant Professor/Librarian positions in the Higher Education Department. Eligibility Criteria and Educational Qualifications
Candidates must meet specific educational qualifications for each post as detailed below. All applicants must possess the prescribed academic and professional qualifications by the cut-off date.
Assistant Professor (Engineering Disciplines)
For Assistant Professor roles in Bio Medical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, and Electronics & Communication Engineering, candidates must have a B.E./B.Tech and a Master's degree in the relevant engineering branch. Both degrees must be obtained with a first class or equivalent grade.
Librarian
For the Librarian post, applicants need a good academic record with knowledge of Library Computerization. They must hold a Master's Degree in Library Science, Information Science, or Documentation Science, or an equivalent professional degree from a recognized university. A minimum of 55% marks is required (50% for SC/ST/Differently-abled categories or Ph.D holders who obtained their Master's Degree before 19th September 1991). Additionally, candidates must have cleared NET/SLET/SET conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or AIU. Candidates awarded a Ph.D degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standard and Procedure for the award of Ph.D Degree Regulations) 2009 are exempted from the NET/SLET/SET requirement.

Selection Process
The selection for Assistant Professor and Librarian posts will be based on a written examination.
- Written Examination: There will be a single paper of 3 hours duration, consisting of 120 multiple-choice questions. The syllabus for this examination will be available on the official website of the Commission.
- Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be required to present a downloaded copy of their online application form along with original certificates for verification.
The selection will be made in accordance with Rule 45 of the J&K Public Service Commission (Business & Procedure) Rules, 2021, as amended.
Examination Centres
The written examination will be conducted at Srinagar and Jammu centres. Candidates must indicate their preferred centre option during the application process. The Commission reserves the right to allot centres, and requests for changes will not be entertained. Information regarding the examination timetable and centre details will be uploaded on the Commission's website approximately two weeks before the exam date.
How to Apply Online
Candidates must apply online through the official JKPSC website. Follow these steps to complete your application:
- Visit the official JKPSC website: http://www.jkpsc.nic.in.
- Click on "One Time Registration" or log in if you already have a profile.
- Update all requisite fields in your One Time Registration (OTR) profile, including personal, contact, and educational details.
- Upload a recent date-stamped passport-size color photograph and signature. The photograph should not be taken earlier than 01.01.2025. The size of the photograph and signature must be between 10kB and 20kB in.jpeg or.jpg format.
- After updating your OTR, check the eligibility conditions mentioned in this notification.
- Click on "show examination" against the relevant post/examination you wish to apply for.
- Select the month of the advertisement notification to find the link(s) for the post(s).
- Click the "APPLY" button next to the eligible post. Read the instructions carefully before proceeding.
- The system will display your OTR details. Fill in any remaining required fields in the application form and accept the declaration.
- Once satisfied with the details, click "SUBMIT" to finalize your application.
- Proceed to pay the application fee online through the "SUBMITTED APPLICATIONS" menu in your account.
- Upload all mandatory and category-specific documents as required. Ensure all certificates are valid as on the cut-off date.
- After successful payment and document upload, you will be able to print your submitted application form.

Application Form Correction
Candidates who successfully submit their online application and pay the requisite fee will be allowed to edit certain fields in their submitted form.
