Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)	B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Fuel and Mineral Engineering with a minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks from a recognized Institute/University.

Mandatory Qualification

Applicants must be qualified in either GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) or NET (National Eligibility Test).

Desirable Qualifications

Candidates with strong academic records and practical experience or knowledge in the following areas will be preferred:

• Coal characterization
• Mineral liberation studies
• Washability analysis
• Coal beneficiation techniques

Age Limit

Salary Structure

The selected Junior Research Fellow will receive a competitive fellowship amount, subject to successful external assessment for the third year.

Project Tenure and Ph.D. Opportunity

The project tenure is initially for one year, with the possibility of extension up to three years or until the project's completion, based on performance and project requirements. Selected candidates may also be permitted to register for the Ph.D. program at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, adhering to the Institute's rules. If admitted to the Ph.D. program, the position may be converted into a regular Institute JRF.

Job Description

The Junior Research Fellow will be involved in various aspects of the research project, including:

1. Conducting feed characterization using Float and Sink Tests.
2. Performing pre-treatment of near-density material (NDM)-rich high-ash coking/semi-coking coal through physical and physico-chemical techniques to improve coal-mineral liberation.
3. Operating and optimizing Dense Medium Cyclone (DMC) systems for deep beneficiation of Indian high-ash coal to achieve clean coal with less than 15% ash and maximum combustible recovery.

Selection Process
