SSC Stenographer Grade C & D Revised Allocation Announced

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has officially released the Revised First Round of Tentative Allocation (FRTA) for the Stenographer Grade C & D Examination 2025. This crucial update follows a comprehensive review by the Commission, addressing representations from candidates regarding skill test evaluations. A total of 1715 candidates have been provisionally shortlisted for various Ministries, Departments, and Offices.

Vacancy Details for Stenographer Grade C & D

The revised allocation covers a significant number of positions for both Grade C and Grade D Stenographers. The total vacancies and recommended candidates are detailed below:

For Grade 'C', 7 EWS, 3 SC, and 17 OBC candidates qualified at the Unreserved (UR) standard. For Grade 'D', 72 EWS, 9 SC, 2 ST, and 234 OBC candidates qualified at the UR standard. Horizontal vacancies details for PwBD categories are also provided in the official notice.

Skill Test Cut-Off Percentages

The Commission has established specific category-wise cut-offs based on the percentage of errors or mistakes allowed in the Skill Test. These cut-offs are crucial for determining a candidate's qualification for the allocation process.

Sliding Mechanism for Vacancy Filling

A 'Sliding Mechanism' has been introduced to ensure maximum utilization of vacancies and provide fair, merit-based opportunities. This mechanism aims to minimize unfilled positions due to candidates opting out or not joining. Candidates who appeared in the Stenography Skill Test were required to submit their Option-cum-Preference online between 05 May 2026 and 08 May 2026. A total of 10,132 candidates who submitted their preferences have been considered for this selection process.

Important Dates for the Sliding Process

Candidates provisionally shortlisted in the FRTA for Stenographer Grade 'C' and 'D' Examination 2025 must participate in the upcoming sliding process.

• Venue, Date, and Slot Selection: Candidates must log in to the designated module on the SSC website (https://ssc.gov.in/) from 04 August 2026 to 05 August 2026 to choose their preferred venue, date, and slot for the sliding process.
• Sliding Process Conduct: The actual sliding process will take place at the concerned Regional Offices from 11 August 2026 to 12 August 2026. The address of the venue will be available on the login module.

It is mandatory for recommended candidates to attend the physical sliding process. Failure to attend will result in the candidate being treated as absent and they will not be considered for the final result. Candidates are advised to refer to the Notice dated 08 April 2026 on the Sliding Mechanism and other related notices on the Commission's website.

Resolution of Tie Cases

In instances where multiple candidates secure the same aggregate marks in the Computer Based Examination (CBE), the Staff Selection Commission applies a specific tie-breaking methodology. The tie is resolved by considering the following criteria, in sequential order:

1. Higher marks in Part-III (English Language & Comprehension).
2. Higher marks in Part-II (General Awareness).
3. Older date of birth (candidates older in age are placed higher).
4. Alphabetical order of the candidates' names.

Cancelled and Debarred Candidatures

The Commission has also announced the cancellation of candidature for two individuals and the debarment of seven candidates by their respective Regional Offices. The roll numbers of these candidates are explicitly mentioned in the official notification.

Checking Candidate Marks

The marks obtained by both selected and non-selected candidates will be uploaded on the Staff Selection Commission's official website after the declaration of the final result of the examination. Candidates are advised to regularly check the website for updates.
