About the IIT Guwahati Project Scientist Recruitment 2026

The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT Guwahati) has issued a notification for the recruitment of various project-based positions under the "Design and Development of AI/ML Co-Processor and Post Quantum Cryptography Co-Processor (An Initiative towards Electronics System Design and Manufacturing in North-East Region)" project. This recruitment aims to fill 7 vacancies for Project Scientist, Assistant Project Engineer, Lab Assistant, and Scientific Administrative Assistant roles. Vacancy Details

A total of 7 positions are available across different roles within the project. The distribution of vacancies is as follows:

• Project Scientist: 3 Posts
• Assistant Project Engineer: 2 Posts
• Lab Assistant: 1 Post
• Scientific Administrative Assistant: 1 Post

Eligibility Criteria and Qualifications

Applicants must meet specific educational qualifications and experience requirements for each post. The duration of appointment for all selected candidates will be 11 months.

Project Scientist

Candidates for Project Scientist must hold a Ph.D. in VLSI/Microelectronics/CS. Alternatively, an MTech/ME in VLSI/Microelectronics/CS with 2 years of relevant experience, or a BTech/BE in EC/EE/CS with 4 years of relevant experience, is also acceptable.

Assistant Project Engineer

A Bachelor's degree in EC/EE/CS is required. Candidates should also have a background in RTL Design/Data Verification, DFT/Synthesis, Physical Design, Signoff, or Analog.

Lab Assistant

Applicants should possess a B.Sc. degree with at least 65% marks or a 7 CGPA. A Diploma in Engineering and Technology with 65% marks or 7 CGPA and above is also eligible, preferably with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.

Scientific Administrative Assistant

Required qualifications include an MSc/BSc in Electronics/CSE/IT. Candidates with a Diploma in Engineering and Technology are also eligible, preferably with a minimum of 1 year of work experience.

Salary and Emoluments

The monthly gross salary for selected candidates will vary based on the position, including Pay Recommended, HRA, and Medical allowances.

Selection Procedure

The selection process will involve a hybrid interview (offline/online).

1. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their applications and uploaded documents.
2. Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview scheduled for 18 August 2026, starting from 10:00 AM onwards, at the Research Building, 7th Floor, IIT Guwahati.
3. No separate call letters will be sent to candidates.
4. The selection committee will make the final decision based on the candidate's performance in the interview and relevant experience. The basic pay may be revised by the Competent authority based on the candidate's performance and experience.
